President and Founding Member, Rectify Data
With the amount of data in the world doubling every year, information sharing is becoming more and more popular. But, if organizations fail to clean data of consumer information (personal identifiers), they can be fined millions of dollars. With heightened restrictions to protect consumer identities, Rectify creates peace of mind by mitigating the risk of fines and loss of consumer trust. Rectify works every single day to decrease the human interaction required to protect consumer identities in data sets.
Melissa's valuable insight to:
- Exploring the expanding definitions of Personally Identifiable Information
- Learning practical approaches to protecting sensitive content during internal and external document distribution
- How technology can help with risk reduction
Melissa is President of Rectify – a document cleansing company that leverages machine learning to protect consumer identities and other private information when data is shared with third parties. Melissa is an automation expert, solving challenging dilemmas and developing best practices for data privacy. Over her tenure, Melissa has protected tens of millions of documents. She has leveraged this experience to coinvent patent-pending workflow methodologies. Prior to founding Rectify, Melissa worked in at&t’s corporate legal department where she led project management for mergers and acquisitions as well as litigation discovery. That’s where Melissa created workflow methodologies and automation techniques to aid in meeting challenging deadlines with very large data sets. Subsequent to that, Melissa cofounded elumicor, a litigation discovery provider focused on serving AmLaw 200 law firms and corporate counsel. During this time, Melissa and her team identified a percolating need while servicing clients – a need for automating the removal of sensitive content during data sharing activities. This led to the launch of Rectify, allowing to fill a large market gap in the data protection market.
In her free time, Melissa is an avid volunteer focusing on data stewardship as well as women in tech and the arts. Melissa currently serves on the Board of Girls Inc. and is the Board Chair for the Classical Music Institute.
